Teeth Whitening
What Is Teeth Whitening?
Teeth whitening is a common and popular chemical process used to lighten teeth. Some people get their teeth whitened to make stains disappear, while others just want a brighter smile. Discoloration, which occurs in the enamel, can be caused by medication, coffee, tea, and cigarettes. Discoloration also can be due to your genetic make-up or simply from aging. Teeth whitening can be performed by your dentist in the office or, under dental supervision, at home.
How long will it for me to see tooth whitening results?
You’ll typically see results after your first treatment. This consists of one overnight treatment with the total cycle lasts about two weeks. There will be one treatment every night and you’ll continue seeing resutls after every single nightly treatment.
Will teeth whitening affect my tooth enamel?
No, it will not harm your tooth enamel in any way
How long will the teeth whitening last?
Tooth whitening will typically last at least a year depending upon how well you follow directions. Eliminate dark colas and teas and coffees. The more of those foods and drinks that you are having will cause more staining on your teeth, which may cause the need to re-bleach more often.
What is the difference between your tooth whitening bleach and what I can buy over the counter?
The over the counter bleach is a lower concentration then the strength that we, as dentists, can prescribe. With the higher strength bleach, the results are typically better and achieved in a shorter amount of time.
Custom take-home bleaching trays are a convenient way to achieve a brighter smile over time. First, an impression of your teeth is taken to craft your bleaching trays — one for your upper teeth and one for your lower teeth. We make sure your bleaching trays fit properly, show you how to apply the peroxide tooth whitening gel and discuss the amount of time your bleaching trays should be worn each day to achieve your desired results
Will I experience any tooth sensitivity?
Typically some people do have some sensitivity and we give you a sensitive tooth paste if you are having any of that and it usually subsides once your full cycle is done.
