Smile makeovers use porcelain veneers to dramatically improve a smile.
Porcelain veneers are strong and natural-looking, and they
can change the shape, color and alignment of your teeth.
Veneers
are thin pieces of porcelain which are bonded to the front surface
of your teeth. Veneers are used to improve the aesthetic appearance
of teeth, to eliminate the gaps between teeth, or address the
problems of a "gummy"smile as well as short or small teeth.
They are often used as an alternative to correcting misaligned teeth
with lengthy orthodontic procedures.
Your first step toward cosmetic enhancement with porcelain dental
veneers is to meet with us to discuss your goals for treatment. At
this time, one of our doctors will provide you with a consultation
about porcelain veneers and determine what you can expect from the
procedure.
During your second office visit, your teeth will be prepared for porcelain
dental veneers. By lightly buffing your teeth's front surface, the
doctor will remove a small amount of enamel from the front of your
teeth. The wafer-thin porcelain veneers will eventually take the place
of this enamel. A mold is then taken of your teeth and from this your
porcelain veneers are custom made.
During your third and final visit, the veneers are placed on your
teeth. At this time, the doctor will precisely match the color of
your veneers to your surrounding teeth. A special light is used to
complete the process.
